Taking the clues gathered throughout the investigation Oswald, Max, and Elsa, with the aid of Irwin determine the Cathedral of Learning is in fact a resurrection engine created by Kimmler as a means of restoring himself to life; the power of the Spring Heir proving to be the kickstart the powerful enchantments needed to begin the process. With it reaching critical mass the Tuatha give a two day deadline before they annihilate the city, fulfulling their obligation as guardians of the Accords. However, the destruction of the city does not sit easily on the shoulders of the Harp & Fiddle Club.
The city at risk they scramble to find alternatives, one of which is the destruction of the cathedral itself, but bombing the landmark is likewise not to their liking. Tracking down other Heirs of Kimmler they find one named Bernard who is willing to aid them in stopping the return of Kimmler. He himself is also keen on blowing the building up but is eventually convinced to instead try and dismantle the magical enchantments powering it, a ritual that will take no less than a week. He is willing to do this only if they agree to perform a favor for him at a later date, with the provisions it will not cause any direct harm to nay of their friends, family, or the city, and will not cause them to violate the laws of magic.
With a solution light on devastation found, they now needed only to convince the Tuatha not to blow up the city and give them time for the ritual. This itself required a majority vote of the Tuatha in the city, and while Aed was happy to delay, the others required persuasion.
- Dion Chase required an oath on his name by Max to never perform healing ever again.
- David Caul was never contacted
- John Cusack and Luke Jackson required them to perform, at a later date, a mission to acquire an artifact.
- The Morrigan required them to supply her with one of her children and to perform a ritual on them, to unknown effect.
- Ogden Mason wanted the group to lobby for the freedom of the Tuatha from the accords should they ever be in such a position.
In the end they agreed with Dion Chase, The Morrigan, and Ogden Mason, which with Aed gave them the majority needed to get time for the ritual. The ritual itself is a week long ordeal and during that time the Heirs of Kimmler will be assaulting the Cathedral of Learning, if Bernard is stopped before he can complete it, it could have disastrous effects. This in mind the Harp & Fiddle Club set about now gathering potential allies, including:
- Winter Court
- Summer Court
- Autumn Court
- Skavis Vampires
- Rooney Vampires
- White Council
- Other Practitioners
In the process they were able to garner some aid from the Summer Court, in exchange for Elsa promising to make the choice and join that court in time. Oswald was able to make contact with AK-47, and while skeptical, were at least willing to look into the matter themselves and help if it proved true. With Griswald missing there was no way to contact the Winter Court. Meanwhile Max was able to find two focused practitioners, a pyromancer and a warder, who were willing to help out. Lastly Simon Skavis threw in with the group, realizing he couldn’t allow the city to fall, and all of his power with it.
And so time grows short, potential allies are still on the board, if the Harp & Fiddle Club can convince them to come into play.
